O Only Son of God, receive me into Thy wisdom. Thou art the head of all the sons of men, Thou their heavenly reason, their illumination and their rejoicing.
Thou art He who thinks the same good in all men: the same thought and the same light. Through Thee man knows man; through Thee man prophesies to man. By Thy voice men hear one another. By Thy tongue they understand. Truly, Thou art the All-Man, for all men are in essence in Thee, and Thou in all and in everything.
Thou dost build the mind of man, and Thy shadow scatters it.
Thou hast shaped all forms, and upon them all hast stamped the seal of Thy wisdom. Thou hast fashioned all vessels out of earth and filled them all with the song and joy of the Holy Trinity in Unity, but Thy shadow has let fall into every vessel a drop of sorrow, with which the sorrowful write their complaints against Thee.
O Magnificent Lord, who playest in the lap of Thy Mother, made living by the All-Holy Spirit, set my mind aright with Thy mind, and cleanse it with Thy radiance from sorrowful thoughts, from sorrowful forebodings, from sorrowful plans. O my Magnificent Lord.
Thou fillest the whole soul of Thy Mother, all Her virginal bosom; and there is nothing in the soul of the Mother except Thee. Thou art Her radiance and Her voice, truly — Her eye and Her song.
Thou art the pride of the Lord the Holy Spirit, His operation and His fruit — His occupation and His marveling! O Magnificent Lord, who playest in the lap of Thy Mother, made living by the Holy Spirit!
Thou art the courage of the Holy Trinity, Her heroism and Her history. One triune ray Thou didst dare to release into chaos and darkness, and the world came to be — a wonder of which the eye cannot see its fill, nor the ear hear its fill, O Creator of both eye and ear.
And all this wonder is only a pale image of Thee, only Thy countenance multiplied and wounded in the shards of a half-radiant mirror.
My heart yearns for Thy whole countenance, O Son of God. For it is bitterness to be a piece of Thy countenance, swaying unsteadily upon the ocean of darkness.
Widen the straitness of my soul, O breadth of the Three-Sunned Godhead.
Illumine my mind, O light of angels and of things. Make my life Word-bearing, O Most Wise Word of God. Make my soul a maiden, and be her eye, and her song.
