For all the sins of men I repent before Thee, O Most Merciful. Behold, the seed of all sins is in my blood! By my own effort and by Thy mercy I smother that evil crop day and night. That no tares may sprout, but pure wheat, in the field of the Lord.
I repent for all the careworn, who buckle beneath their burden of cares and know not how to lay all their cares upon Thee. For weak man even the smallest care is unbearable, but for Thee a mountain of cares is as a snowball cast into a fiery furnace.
I repent for all the sick, for sickness is the fruit of sin. When the soul is cleansed by repentance, sickness vanishes together with the sin, and Thou makest Thy dwelling in the soul, O my Eternal Health.
I repent for the unbelievers, who by their unbelief heap up cares and sicknesses both upon themselves and upon their friends.
For all blasphemers I repent, who blaspheme Thee, not knowing that they blaspheme the Householder Who clothes them and feeds them.
I repent for all murderers of men, who take another's life to preserve their own. Forgive them, O Most Merciful, for they know not what they do. For they know not that there are not two lives in the universe but one, and not two men but one. Ah, how dead are they who cut away half of their heart!
I repent for perjurers, for truly they too are murderers, murderers of themselves.
For all who plunder their brothers and pile up needless riches I weep and sigh, for they have buried their own soul, and have nothing with which to come out before Thee.
For all the proud and haughty I weep and sigh, for before Thee they are like beggars with an empty bag.
For all drunkards and gluttons I weep and sigh, for they have become the servants of their own servants.
For all adulterers I repent, for they have betrayed the trust of the Holy Spirit, Who chose them to build new life through them. But they turned their service to life into the wrecking of life.
For all who speak many words I repent, O Lord, for they have turned Thy most precious gift, the gift of the word, into cheap sand.
For all destroyers of their neighbor's hearth and their neighbor's peace I repent and sigh, for they have drawn down a curse upon themselves and upon their people.
For all lying mouths, for all clouded eyes, for all raging hearts, for all insatiable bellies, for all darkened minds, for all evil will, for all ugly thoughts, for all murderous memories — I repent, I weep and I sigh.
For the whole history of men from Adam to me, a sinner, I repent, for all history is in my blood. For I am in Adam and Adam is in me.
For all the worlds, great and small, that do not tremble before Thy dread presence, I weep and cry out:
O Master Most Merciful, have mercy on me and save me.
