I hear a voice from the deep, saying: the sinless one shall walk among the sick and shall not fall sick. For sinlessness is health and strength, the fullness of health and strength.
The sinless one does not die. And if a sinless man dies because of the sins of others, he shall live again. Like all diseases, death too is a disease, which sin inflicts. And as no disease has power over the sinless one, so neither does death have power over him. Truly, sons of earth, death also is nothing other than a disease.
Let him arise who is master over sin, and he shall be master over diseases. And he shall heal the sick, and he shall raise the dead.
Behold, sinlessness means much life, and sinfulness — little life. Cast hot coals into green grass, and you will not set it aflame. But grass dried of the sap of life the hot coals will set aflame. Diseases are more powerless still against the sinless one than fire against green grass.
The sinless one has much life, and gives; the sinful one has little life, and seizes. To him who has much life, still more is given, as water to the full sea. From him who has little life, it is taken away. And the more he seizes, the less he shall have. Truly, life is a gift, and can only be given as a gift, and by giving it is multiplied. But the seizer shall grow ever smaller, until he vanishes.
Over the mountain grass a rumor walks: sin and disease cannot gnaw and eat away life; they can only push it back and take the place of life.
Over the green lake a rumor murmurs: much life is stronger than much sin; and much life drives out sin and takes the place of sin.
Through all the earth, through and through, walks, walks the rumor: life and disease stand to each other as the existent and the nonexistent; the kingdom of the one knows nothing of the kingdom of the other.
Through all the starry universe, through and through, whispers, whispers the rumor: the touch of God cleanses from sin; the touch of God heals from disease; the touch of God delivers from death.
Prophets and wise men cry aloud what angels whisper: whoever touches life shall live; whoever touches sin shall die. Whoever knows life, him life also knows; whoever knows death, him death also knows. Life has no eyes for death, nor has death eyes for life.
Look how the presence of Him Who Descended from heaven heals those who confessed life, and deadens those who confessed death!
Look how the Virgin's Son is brimful of life, and how He gives it to those sons of women who returned to virginal shame and besought life from the Giver of Life!
Look how easy it is for the Brimful One to pour forth, and for the Sinless One to forgive sins, and for the Healthy One to heal, and for the Life-Bearing One to raise the dead!
My soul, arise and walk. Behold, your sins are forgiven you. Behold, you are being healed of your infirmity, and death is ready to flee.
On the little field, tiny as it is, that sin and disease have not yet snatched from you, stand upright, my soul. And all your former fields, seized by the nonexistent, shall be yours again.
O Lord, dear and most dear, I believe and confess that Thou art life.
Only forgive me my sins, O my Glory, and all the rest shall be given me of itself.
