How wondrous is the true Son of God! He who is not of shadow but of light. He who represents the essential Triad, and not the unessential.
How He has rested His wisdom upon blessed virginity and mighty light, as the dome of a temple upon marble walls!
Dominions, Powers and Authorities do not take their eyes from Him. Principalities, Archangels and Angels are His servants.
And as honey and milk flow in the promised land, so wisdom flows from His lips.
Where your treasure is, there is your heart also. I ask you not what you have, but what you are. If you are children of light, so that in no member of your body there is darkness, then your possession is the Father of Light.
Blessed are you, if all your possession is in the Father of Light. I say to you, your being also will be in Him. You who have vast possessions on earth, take heed, lest you become the property of your possessions.
Take heed, lest what you are from the beginning become what you have since yesterday. Verily I say to you, you will become slaves of darkness, and the light will forget you.
Possessions and kinsmen are your chief enemies. They bind you to this world, and they shut the doors of heaven against you.
Do not bury your heart in earthly possessions, for it will rot beneath the earth. Give your heart to God — a gift to the Giver of gifts — and your possessions will be a harmless slave to you instead of a dangerous master.
Do not give your whole heart to your kinsmen, for they will devour it — and remain hungry.
But give your heart to the Holy Spirit, and He will feed your kinsmen with richer food. Then your kinsmen will be kin to you not only as long as blood and flesh bind you, but as long as the Holy Spirit binds you. And the Spirit has no bonds but eternal ones.
O my wretched soul, choose. Either you love to be, or to have. If you love to be, your possession will amount to no less than God's. If you love to have, your being will be no greater than the moon at the bottom of the lake.
O Son of God, help my soul, that she be not deceived, and choose not perdition.
