Where the King is, there also is the kingdom. A king without a kingdom is no king, nor is a widowed kingdom a kingdom.
The kingdom of heaven is within you, said the King's Son, and joy illumined all those travelers among the graveyards who understood this heavenly message.
The Muslim does not believe that Thou touchest the filthy earth. The pagan sees Thee wholly in the earth. The King's Son knows the royal way, and reveals Thee in the most pure earth. In most pure earth He too clothed Himself and descended, to bring light and substance to the smoke of the earth.
O my King, Thou art nearer to me than my breathing, and Thou dwellest deeper in me than my thoughts.
What is my breathing but something that enters into me from without and goes out again? Even before the breathing of my lungs Thou wast within me. Thou knewest of me while I was yet in the loins of my father. And before the creation of the world Thou didst think of me.
What are my thoughts but the seals of outward things, which enter my mind like threads into a loom, and are woven, and arranged, and disarranged, and lost? All things are outside my mind, and into my mind enter not the things but their seals.
But Thou art the only reality of my mind, with which my mind was born. Even before every seal Thou wast in me; Thou art in contact with me before my contact with any thing whatsoever.
Ever since I heard the royal good tidings, I have been spreading out my soul like the covering of most precious treasures, and I seek Thee and Thy kingdom within her. I spread her out, and I see neither her end nor her bottom. Neither can I reach all her heights, nor descend into all her mines.
I uncover bright rays, which herald some far-off sun. I uncover the golden pillars of the temple, but nowhere do I see the end of the temple.
I sense the fragrant scent of incense, but I cannot see the royal throne.
The more I labor and uncover, the more I see of what is veiled.
Undreamed-of mysteries hast Thou stored within me, O Lord over numberless hosts. On every soldier glistens Thy royal splendor.
Just as the sun is never without its bright rays, so neither is the King without His angels, His bright rays.
Boundlessness Thou bearest with Thee, O my King, and boundlessness Thou bringest into my soul.
With Eternity Thou hast wrapped Thyself as with a mantle, O my King, and with that mantle Thou dost wrap my soul.
The Spirit creates for Himself a Where and a When, and depends not on His own creations.
O Lord Most Rich, I am amazed with wonder as I gaze into my soul. What riches Thou hast heaped up in a meager earthen vessel!
Truly, the fault is mine, if I feel myself poor. The fault is mine, if I feel myself mortal.
It is my own suicide, if I feel myself a slave of the earth and of the earth's self-delusion.
Where Thou art, there also is the kingdom of heaven; and where the kingdom of heaven is, there also art Thou.
O Immortal King, hear the stammering of my tongue; hear my song, the only sacrifice of my tongue:
Blessed is the kingdom of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, the Three-Sunned Life and Blessedness! Amen.
